How to contribute to the society with zero money??
Well... first let me explain you why chose to write up on this topic.
The other day when I was talking with my dearest friend on phone, we ended up
coming to a sensible topic of contributing to society without joining NGO or by
without investing a penny..
Many of us are busy doing typical 9 to 5 jobs or exploring our passions.
Joining an NGO or any CSR activity is not usual among many of us. Literally,
many of us(at least per se some of us) even though we want to contribute
something to society, we generally do not know the ways to do the same. We
think that it is possible only by joining an NGO or contributing to a fund
raiser. But the answer is NO.
Yes, we have many new ways (at least indirect ways) of contributing
something without investing zero money and much less of our time.
Lemme show you the possible ways...
1. Teaching kids around you:
Education is the most powerful way to help others. Some kids i.e.,
school going children around us often neglect their studies, may be because of
lack of awareness or may be by their monetary terms. Generally, their parents
cannot afford to teach their children (lack of awareness) or send them to
private tutions. We cannot expect an NGO to come to our colony/locality and
search for the unaffordable ones and take private classes. Here you are
the solution to the problem. Just take out one hour of your evening time and
teach the kids freely. Kids can be your maid's children or your watchman's
children. Instead of scrolling theough your never ending insta feed, just spare
one hour and you may become a strong pillar in moulding a kid's life. The
amount of happiness you will experience by the kid's progress is inexpressible.
(Courtesy: Akhil anna @Akhil Narla, he has been helping two kids in solving
mathematics since 2 years. A shop vendor near his hostel has asked anna's help
and he explored a new experience, which is indeed very great.)
PS: Do not expect anything in return.
2. Planning a zero carbon day:
The burning issue we often tend see in news feed is global warming, CO2
emissions etc. You may think how an individual may contribute to it or to how
much extent an individual's work may contribute. But remember Hilter (result
may be good or bad) , Mussolini, Mandela, Gandhi started as one.
Keep a day among your working days of a week as no carbon emission day.
Try to use public transport on that particular day. If you are using your own
car/motor cycle, take a metro/bus/local train on that day. If you tend to go by
cab daily, take a pool drive that day. Try this and get habituated to it and
try to mould the persons around you (may be you family member or colleague or
friend).
PS: When in emergency, do not follow it :)
(Courtesy: #cycletooffice once in a week. So here, as to cause no
inconvenience, use pooling methods instead of cycle. )
3. Gifting a plant:
Gift a plant instead of costly gifts and presents. Make it a habit to gift
your friends/neighbour a plant on his/her birthday. By this you can also create
awareness about greenery, saving our mother earth.
PS: Gift an air purifying indoor plant. They are in fashion now and it
is easy to maintain also.
(Courtesy: I learnt it from my Colony mate Glory Akka @Glory Florence. She along with
her beloved ones in lockdown days made it a habit to visit the birthday
person's home and made sure that they plant a sapling. Thanks to her, our
surroundings turned greener today.)
4. Helping the needy:
No need to visit any fund raiser's website or page and fund your money
there. We often tend to see many people in winters shivering at roadside. We
can help them by providing our used/new blankets.
Ok, if at all going to roadside is a burden for you, there is a still
simplified solution to you. We often tend to visit temple/church/mosque on our
birthdays. There would be many people sitting outside in queue hoping for
some help. If have any woolen shawls in your house (most of the times we do not
use them and keep them a corner in our cupboards), give them to the needy.
PS: No hungama over here.

5. Be a good and responsible citizen:
All of you who ever reading if you do not have a voter ID and if you are
18+ immediately at no second thought do copy this link and follow the process
(( https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ )) . Hope you have registered. Do not ever
miss the opportunity of casting your vote. India is the largest democratic
country in the world and we are proud about it. But to make our citizens
responsible and make our representative democratic process a successful one,
casting vote is necessary. Instead of complaining about government schemes and
reforms, use the opportunity given to you in choosing a right leader.
(Courtesy: I am a responsible citizen and I do cast my vote. Hope you too are
so)
Ok...
if at all if you feel any inconvenience in doing any of the above ones, I would
like to say u a simple and the best way to contribute
6. Help/Spend time with your grand parents:
Yes, you have heard it right. They are the most vulnerable people
in the present cosmopolitan society. We, along with our parents in search
of good schooling and jobs, have left our hometowns. Many of us have our grand
parents struggling in hometowns. Spend some quality time with them. Help them
in doing their daily chores. Do not get irritated when they use the phone wrong
way, teach them. Do not get irritated when they do not flush properly, bare
them. Feed them when they are at their vulnerable stage of their life.
(Courtesy: Chintanna @Santhosh Kale, you will definitely remember your 25th birthday
for a reason, which you already knew.)
These are just some of many ways/solutions in contributing to our
society. These are the simplest ways with zero investment of money. You just
need a little amount of time and yes, a big heart to do. Just observe the
happenings around you with your eyes widened, you can see the life in a much
different perspective.
I have listed the above from my findings. No R&D is needed here.
These are the most simple ways, which many of us already knew. No offence and
do let me know your findings/solutions of contributing to the society
with zero money in the comments below.
Hope to see you all soon with better topic and much better write up very
soon.
Until next time
